Goals 2013

It's January so I'm in the obligitory goal setting mode that many of us go through at the start of a new year.

My goals for training are split across the three disciplines. I don't yet have any goals in mind for strength/stretching stuff... just to attend to it more regulary!

Swim
  1. Get faster! Fairly boring and obvious but i've remained at a steady pace since my first improvement after beginning swimming 3 years ago so it's time to make some changes.
  2. Get a couple of lessons to get my technique checked/refined
  3. Get involved in a squad again (made a huge difference a couple of years ago)
Bike
  1. Learn how to look after my bike! I know, kinda weird to have this as my first goal but since buying my new blue baby last year I'd really like to learn how to do the basic maintenence to keep it running smoothly.
  2. Again, work on speed. As with my swimming, my cycling pace has remained a fairly consistent average of 25km/hr (that's a guesstimate).
Run
  1. Ahhh my favourite of the three. And this is my focus this year for training in general. Getting back to my first love.
  2. Run a marathon! After completing several 1/2's and one ultra I think it's time to tick off the 42.2km distance.
  3. Speed goals are fairly specific here as i know what's possible now. Last year I reduced my average pace to 5.45min/km after spending the last 10 years at 6min/km pace. I'm pretty stoked with the improvements i made last year and keen to keep that momentum. So, a) get all my mid length (8-15km) runs down to 5.45km/hr; b) get all my short runs (7km and under) down to 5.30km/hr.
